DVS 2024 Compliance
The DVS 2024 PSS introduces two important additions: Moving Off Information Systems (MOIS) and Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS).
These systems offer active warnings to drivers regarding the presence of pedestrians, cyclists, and other objects in the front blind spot and nearside of the vehicle.
The regulations allow for three compatible technologies: ultrasonic systems, radar systems, and AI camera systems. However, it’s worth noting that existing ultrasonic systems specified in DVS 2020 are not compatible with the updated DVS 2024 specification.
The Minimum Star Rating is rising
From 2024, all vehicles oer 12 tonnes travelling into Greater London wil now be required to achieve a minimum 3 star rating, an increase from the 1 star rating currently required.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
The Direct Vision Standard measures how how much an HGV driver can see directly through their cab windows. This indicates the level of risk to vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists. By adding safety equipment you will achieve DVS star rating, eliminating the vehicles blind spots.
